What I'm proud of

Ronan is a consultant in Small Animal Surgery at University College Dublin. He completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Davies Veterinary Specialists in Hertfordshire, UK in October 2012, followed by a combined four-year Doctorate of Veterinary Medical Specialisation (DVMS) and residency in small animal surgery at University College Dublin, which he completed in May 2018. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (DECVS) in February 2019 and is currently Assistant Professor and Discipline Head of Small Animal Surgery at University College Dublin. His doctoral thesis investigated the possible protective effect of prophylactic treatment with levetiracetam against development of post-attenuation seizures in dogs undergoing single congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt attenuation and prognostic factors for short-term survival. Ronan speaks frequently at national and international conferences and regularly provides continuing education to veterinary surgeons in Ireland and the UK. His research interests include spinal fractures, surgical oncology, upper airway surgery and portosystemic shunts and has published widely in these areas.
